Get started with ansible, a powerful open-source automation tool that simplifies configuration management, application deployment, and task automation.

In this workshop you’ll learn the fundamental principles of ansible, whether you’re a power user, a sysadmin, a developer or a devops enthusiast.

• Understand how Ansible works and where it fits into the automation ecosystem
• Write simple playbooks to automate routine tasks
• Manage remote systems using inventory files
• Automagically discover remote systems through dynamic inventories
• Use roles to abstract common tasks and avoid code duplication
• discover ansible collections to fit your needs
• write plugins for those cases that are not covered yet.

No prior knowledge about ansible is required!

Bring you Linux computer with you. A basic understanding of the command line and SSH is recommended.

Packaging best current practices workshop

In this workshop we will show you in a hands-on approach how to package and maintain software for inclusion in Debian by today’s best current practices.

• piuparts
• quilt
• salsa.debian.org
• Conveying your intent to package software

Please bring your laptop (and charger) to the workshop. If you have software you would like packaged, tell us at the start of the event!

A basic understanding of Debian and the command line is recommended.
